We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our highly motivated, talented and driven Legal Department.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will successfully provide legal support and day to day advice across a diverse range of commercial, dispute resolution, intellectual property, brand protection, and legal operation matters.

The primary focus of the role will be to:

  • Provide sound, practical, succinct and solutions orientated legal advice and strategic guidance that ensures organisational and commercial outcomes are optimised. 
  • Proactively manage all instructions and lead the negotiation and legal drafting of commercial contracts across the business.
  • Become the trusted business partner in guiding procurement and tendering processes.
  • Maintain and update a suite of standard form precedent contracts.
  • Effectively communicate and support the management of contractual risk. 
  • Assist with the administrative requirements of contract management system, budgeting and other legal operations.

This role will work closely with key functions across AGPC and its business units, including Design and Construction, Operations, Sales & Commercial and Marketing & Experience.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of commercial contracting, intellectual property and licensing, consumer law, procurement and tendering, negotiation skills, dispute resolution, statutory interpretation, privacy and data protection, freedom of information.
  • 2-3 years’ experience at a law firm or in an in-house legal role.
  • Understanding of public sector processes and governance, and decision making though not essential. 
  • Strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to interpret legal, regulatory policy and propose pragmatic solutions. 
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills - able to draft clear and pragmatic advice and commercial contracts and other legal documents.
  • Strong stakeholder management and partnering skills; able to engage and build relationships across all levels and communicate legal issues clearly and succinctly.
  •  Able to work autonomously and effectively manage time and deliver against multiple projects and priorities, providing regular updates and escalating issues as appropriate. 

A current Australian legal practicing certificate is required for this role.
