The Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) is responsible for staging two iconic international events, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix held at Phillip Island. AGPC is excited to announce that we are now recruiting for a Legal Counsel in the highly regarded Legal and Strategy Department that prides itself on customer focus, innovation and results. This position has become available due to an internal promotion onto an international project.
We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer with an eye for detail who has:
- Minimum 4 years PAE.
- Experience in a highly regarded law firm (in-house/secondment experience will be well regarded, but is not essential).
- Law Degree and admitted as a solicitor in Victoria or another Australia jurisdiction.
- A sense of humour and a commitment to participate in all the cool stuff the Grand Prix and MotoGP throws up.
The Legal Counsel will play a key role in the delivery of the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix and Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. You will work daily with the General Counsel across all legal matters that the Corporation faces. No two days are the same in this rare role to combine your passion for the law and sport.
The role will include the following:
- Drafting, negotiation and approving various agreements particularly supplier and sponsorship contracts.
- Playing a key role in the procurement and tender process including preparation of tender documents.
- Key stakeholder management including Victorian Government, Formula 1 and MotoGP management.
- Involvement in governance processes including contract management and company policies.
- Consumer and marketing, IT, IP and trade marks, freedom of information, staff training and other awesome sports law work will keep you busy.
This role will provide the opportunity to play a key role in AGPC's strategy and strategic direction. It will also allow you access to the incredible sports, events and tourism industries in Melbourne, Victoria and Australia.
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate experience and success in drafting and approving contracts.
